if you're in the business of:
Making or giving presentations,
Video and audio for promotions or training,
Awards events -
WE CAN ENHANCE WHAT YOU DO
Jonathan Pagden and Nicky Rogowski are a couple of freelancers working in live events.
Here's how we can help you with your event:
Programme the on-screen graphics for your event using Keynote or PowerPoint.
Provide, rig and operate the graphics computers on the day of the show.
Voice the show - from a simple "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome...",
right up to Out-Of-Vision co-presenting, or anything inbetween.
Help your presenters keep on track by prompting them
- Nicky has years of experience in the delicate field of prompting, and is expert at putting nervous presenters at their ease. Grateful clients include several Prime Ministers.
/WHAT we do
We've evolved an effective way of working on awards shows:
we make the graphics (and, if you want, write the script, source and edit music) and, on the day, Jonathan does live voiceover while Nicky operates our computers.
Or any variation of that, to suit you.
We are adept at 'speaker ready' -
Meeting presenters when they arrive and loading up their slides:
Editing, revising and 'polishing':
Briefing presenters on what to expect in the conference room:
Spotting technical issues before they happen:
Generally making sure the event runs seamlessly.
What They Said
"...cuts through any mumbling murmuring crowd cleanly..." - Tess Townsend, showcaller
"Dark brown voice....Mister mellifluous" - Moira Stuart
"Is that the guy who does the National Lottery show?" - unidentified punter at awards show
"As ever, job well done. I know the client trusts the PresPro team to deliver a professional event and indeed you always do. Here's to the next one." - Amanda Rayner, Producer
"Every time you spoke I went all trembly" - unidentified (and possibly drunk) female punter at awards show
Being at the controls of the prompting kit (commonly known as 'Autocue' although that's a brand name and many variations exist) requires something approaching telepathy with the person doing the reading: Nicky's ability in this is something that many presenters, entertainers, business leaders and Prime Ministers will vouch for.
THINGS WE'VE DONE, PLACES WE'VE BEEN
Two years of an event we did from 2008 till its end in 2014: graphics production, scriptwriting, showcalling and live voiceover - and for the final year with Nicky on prompting too.
Note the spelling of "Plaisterers" - it's not a typo, it's yer actual medieval...
Very wide screen for an awards show: graphics programmed and edited by us,
and operated by Nicky while Jonathan did the voiceover.
Jonathan was HoD Video for this, 3 days of tech-talk to 5,000 people in a 'shed' in Copenhagen:
"I remember sitting there during the long, long rehearsals, thinking when I started doing this we used projectors rated at 250 lumens. I've got 90,000 lumens up there - and they're still saying it's not bright enough"
We've programmed this event since - gulp - 2001: helping former racing commentator Sir Peter O'Sullevan to raise a hair-raising amount of money for charity. For this event we came up with a solution to the classic technical problem of 'square' projection combined with 'widescreen' plasma screens. Rather clever, though we say it ourselves.
Want to know how we did it? Contact us and we'll tell you!
- and from the archives...
Thanks (we think!) to Colin Dawson for unearthing this - Jonathan 'live' on BBC Radio Leeds in about 1981. Note the vinyl records and complete absence of anything resembling a computer!
Meanwhile, on a stage or TV near you...
/HIM AND HER
Thirty-five years plus in media work, trained in BBC Radio and has been talking while pressing buttons, or variations thereof, ever since.
Puts 'Dark Brown Voice' to good use providing live voice-overs for events and recording promo/training pieces and audiobooks. Also programmes PowerPoint and Keynote graphics, does regular radio programmes and has been known to showcall.
(Nothing important, though - Prime Minister at the Albert Hall, Elton John at Wembley Arena, that sort of thing)
Our Survey Said:
"Mister Mellifluous" - Moira Stuart. Now that's a compliment worth having!
BBC newsreader Huw Edwards said "Wish I had a voice like that"
Favourite Show Moment:
On-stage presenter stops mid-script and says "what time is it?" JP opens mic and tells him. Presenter says "Thanks, voice! Funny about that voice, y'know - when you meet him (puts on squeaky high-pitched voice) he talks like this!"
"It's all lies - I deny everything..."
Did first voice job (a radio book review) aged 8. Still has the book somewhere.
Graphics and Prompting operator, member of Equity.
Specialises in 'Speaker ready': tidying up PowerPoint, making last-second changes
and generally putting nervous presenters at their ease: plus she's a favourite prompting operator for some very high-profile people.
Our Survey Said:
"It went without a hitch due to the hard work and organisation of your team.
Pls pass on my thanks..." - conference host
Favourite Show Moment:
So many to choose from...
Still thinking about this one
Nothing she's wanting to admit to!
